I Started Where Most People Think You Can't
I grew up at 54 Bramham Road in Acomb, York. Council flat. If you know Acomb, you know. It's not the part of York tourists visit. Over 40% social housing, household incomes in the bottom third nationally. I didn't have a trust fund or a university degree. What I had was a laptop, curiosity, and an internet connection.
At 14, I started a finance blog under the name FawcettWorks and taught myself to rank it on Google. Once it started getting traffic, I rented the site out to a university that wanted the exposure. That was my first taste of what rankings could do -- turn a bedroom project into actual income. I was hooked.
The Game Server Era
Around the same time, I got into Garry's Mod and Arma 3 -- not just playing, but running the servers. I taught myself Lua scripting, built custom game modes, managed communities of hundreds of players, handled server infrastructure, dealt with hosting, security, scaling, and monetisation. By 15, I was pulling in £15,000 a month from those servers.
